NIHAABR activities


The NIHAABR Agenda (period 2010-2014) includes the following activities:

  • Propose action to strength scientific cooperation between Brazilian institutions, including research financial agencies, and the NIH;
  • Propose political-scientific actions to facilitate transfer of material (including animals, transgenic or not; proteins; DNA, etc…) to be used only for scientific purpose, between Brazilian Institutions and the NIH. This includes to present projects to the Ministry of Agriculture, Brazilian Agency of Sanitary Vigilance and other organs involved in this type of activity. The aim is to contribute for the advance in biomedical research in Brazil;
  • Develop strategies to contact Companies to obtain funds to maintain the NIHAABR active in the future;
  • Organize the 2nd NIHAABR Symposium.


The NIHAABR Agenda (period 2005-2009) includes the following activities:

  • Create the NIHAABR Executive Committee and Advisory Board;
  • Create the NIHAABR Website (version in English and Portuguese) and database with former NIH visiting fellows in Brazil;
  • Propose action to strength scientific cooperation between Brazilian institutions, including research financial agencies, and the NIH;
  • Propose political-scientific actions to facilitate transfer of material (including animals, transgenic or not; proteins; DNA, etc…) to be used only for scientific purpose, between Brazilian Institutions and the NIH.
